Sara Barber

Professional Staff Member, U.S.House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology
Sara earned her PhD in physics from the University of Oklahoma in 2015 where she studied remnant planetary systems around white dwarf stars. After graduate school, Sara moved to DC for a one-year AAAS/AIP Congressional Science Fellowship with the House Science Committee. During her fellowship, Sara worked alongside Space Subcommittee staff on space policy issues including NASA oversight, commercial space activities, planetary protection, and international space cooperation. At the end of her fellowship, Sara was hired as professional staff of the Research and Technology Subcommittee. Her current portfolio includes STEM education and diversity, research policy, NSF research facilities, sexual harassment in the sciences, academic security, gun violence research, and quantum science.
