U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology
Professional Staff
Lauren Linsmayer is a professional staff member with the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology where she works on climate, weather, and ocean policy for the majority.  She joined the Committee at the beginning of 2019 after completing a year-long science policy fellowship with the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. She holds a PhD in Marine Biology and a Master’s degree in Oceanography from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego, California. She also has a B.S. and M.S. in Earth Systems from Stanford University.  It was during graduate school that her desire to make her coral reef research lead to more direct conservation outcomes motivated her career transition from academia to policy. Her overarching career goal is to serve as a bridge between science and policy to influence science-grounded environmental policies. She also serves on the Executive Board of the Women’s Aquatic Network, which is a private, non-profit organization based in D.C. that brings together professionals with interests in marine, coastal and aquatic affairs and promotes the roles of women in these fields.
